Soooo I haven’t written a blog in a long time. I have truly been quite the slacker. My life has been kinda crazy lately. The last day of PrimeTime was last week, and not to mention it’s the end of the year for us at school. Teachers have so much to do at the end of the year with promotion, etc. That leaves librarians with a lot to do too. For those of you who don’t know, I have the job of scanning everything in our school with a barcode. Just to give you an idea, we have 13,000 things barcoded in our library-and that does NOT include textbooks. We have over 3,000 textbooks. And every one of those things have to be scanned to make it a perfect inventory. But alas, that never happens, and I wouldn’t expect it to. There’s always going to be books that are lost, etc., and won’t be returned. I also have to write up three different reports on collection statistics, inventory statistics, etc. My principal wants me to write up an AR report for her. I had to do a School Technology Survey which was 15 pages long as well, but I finished that-yay! So those are the end of year things that I am doing. And you know, I don’t mind doing it at all. I actually enjoy being able to know where all of my items are, and know what’s missing so that I can replace it. Call me obsessive, but I like to be organized.
Let me just take a brief break to give props to Andrea Bocelli. If you’ve never taken a moment to listen to his music, PLEASE do so. He has the talents of an angel, truly.
Back to what I was talking about…hmmm. got off track. Oh yeah! My last week. OK, so after Prime Time ending on Wednesday I went to work on Thursday, and usually it is like a very exhausting day because Ryan and I have been at work the night before until 8:00 and then come back the next day, but we actually had a fantastic day. We came home, chipper and talking, noticed that the box for our Mother’s day gifts had been delivered, which made us even happier. Unlocked the door to the apartment, walked in…and then I said “Oh shit!” and he was like “What?” and walked in at the same time and said “Oh my gosh.” Well, I won’t keep you in suspense-our ceiling was on our FLOOR and there was water gushing out of it. Apparently the people upstairs had a slow leak in their water heater and since it wasn’t up to code and didn’t have a kill switch, the pan just kept overflowing until it flowed all out under the carpet and got so wet that it just fell into our apartment! So imagine our shock when we walked in and saw a humongous hole in the ceiling.
Well, long story short, we waited for our landlord to get there and have had to stay in a hotel for the past 4 nights. She had said that the apartment would be liveable by today, and it really isn’t because there are still massive holes in our bedroom and living room, but we were just sick to death of being away from our apartment and our life, so we decided to just stay in the guest bedroom with our kitties. The path to the bathroom and the kitchen are clean, our carpet has new padding, is put back down, and is beautiful. So that’s a plus. However, the ceilings are still gutted and you can see the boards. They are beginning on repairing that tomorrow.
And you know, being in a hotel constantly even made Ryan and I antsy and irritated towards one another. It just had to end. Now that we’re back in our apartment, we are acting totally different towards one another-we are just glad to be home…call us crazy for coming home to a half-repaired home, but it’s better for our morale. Alright, I need to cover my sweet little lovebird who is tweeting and telling me she’s ready for BED! <3 you alllll!
