So this week was really productive. There are things that haven’t gone the way that they have, but then again it’s been really really productive. Just to fill you in on the house situation, the landlord has not come back to our apartment since MONDAY. That’s right, folks, since Monday. Ryan spoke with her on Monday and she had said that she was hoping things would be done here by Friday. Well, it’s hard to have things done when you don’t, er, come over. So anyway, it wasn’t really bothering us. Then about Thursday that started to change. Because see, we had originally gotten the new bed because the queen sized bed that we have really hurts to sleep on after a while, and so starting about Thursday we were both having back problems, and it sucked that our living room is,well, unliveable because everything is pushed onto one wall-can’t sit on the couches, can’t watch our TV, can’t use our PS3, can’t do squat. It’s all covered in a tarp. And our ceilings are just ripped open and exposed so we really couldn’t use our bedroom anymore. Well, Friday we decided that we would just put the damn bed back down in the bedroom and sleep on it-that’s right, we were lucky enough that the bed was salvageable. And good thing it was, since insurance told me that they were only going to pay about $350 on the replaced bed, which would leave us with about $800 out of pocket since we had a King bed & boxsprings. So we made it work. And it’s fine. So I have to say that last night was the best night of sleep that I have had since we got back from the hotel, simply because we were on a very comfortable bed and everything. Now we are sleeping in the bedroom with the exposed ceiling, and that’s kinda weird-I find myself laying there sometimes just staring at it. And it makes the upstairs neighbors even louder than they were originally, which I thought was not possible, but it is. It’s really SQUEAKY. This morning it woke Ryan and I up very early because of how squeaky it was…haha. Nevertheless, we still decided to sleep in there and I’m glad we did. But I forgot to mention the guest bathroom situation that’s brewing, literally. We had a leak from the ceiling above us in the bathroom and she knew that-this was an ongoing problem that happening before the Ceiling Fiasco. Well, I pretty much told her I wanted that fixed while she fixed this problem, so she ripped open the ceiling. And…left everything in the tub-all the exposed, moldy sheetrock. And now the ceiling is leaking…ON it. in the tub. Turning it into cakey, stinky, mess. So Ryan and i now have had to close off that bathroom altogether. It is SO nasty-I mean, this house is just in bad shape, honestly. We are calling her on Monday to ask her where in the heck she has been and why she hasn’t bothered calling us, filling us in, fixing our ceiling, getting the nappy sheetrock out of our tub, etc. And that also she can dream on about us giving back her money for rent-haha. I’m waiting on the insurance check to come right now to reimburse us for the table that was damaged and stuff like that.
So OFF of that subject. School lets out for the students on THURSDAY!!!! And it is an early dismissal day on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week-it is crazy to me. Thursday is Field Day and Ryan and I will be doing temporary tattoos. Tuesday is going to be the Fiesta Party for the classes that won the AR parties. That should be a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to get things finished up at work this past week. I closed inventory on Friday and only had 34 books that I couldn’t find from my inventory-I marked the rest of them as lost, because they had been not seen since last year. I also finished scanning in textbooks on Friday, although some people still have theirs checked out, and I have to wait for people to get those turned in this next week before I submit my inventory. Mostly so I can charge fines, etc., for those naughty ones who have books out. But of course there are certain teachers who want to hang me because they have books out that they have not been responsible with and so now they say that they are just not going to pay for them or replace them. And I give them the schpeel that there really is no choice in the matter, and that they have to do one or the other before I sign off on their checkout forms. Luckily, the checkout isn’t going to be THAT hard for me because I have gotten textbooks done this past week and won’t be jammed into the last week of school doing that. It’s so much different than teachers with their cumulative record folders and stuff like that, but there is equally as much stuff to do. Since I completed the inventory I can actually start collecting data for my School Library Report that I have to fill out, along with the other 3 reports, and of course Shamlin wants me to print out an AR survey for her to use for something…not sure that it will even get used, but when the boss asks you to do something, you do it, whether you think it’ll get used or not…LOL.
So Ryan and I went and saw Ironman today. We wanted to go see it with Amber and Kyle but we really wanted to go see it, and since they were camping, we just decided to get up and GO. Ryan and I are so bad about procrastinating, and when we finally decided that we’re going to do something, it’s best to just DO it, dangit! I’m afraid that she’ll be a little upset that we didn’t go (even though she secretly doesn’t really like going to the movies…shhhhh). Maybe there’ll be another that we can go see. She and I talked about the movies and she knows where we stand with that, though, so maybe she’ll settle for us going to play putt putt or bowling or even going to dinner sometime instead. Or maybe, just maybe, she’ll invite Ryan and I camping at some point…hmm. You know, we haven’t even been camping together before but when we saw the picture of her tent that she texted me, it looked like so much fun! Now I would have to have a tent, I’m not THAT one with the outdoors that I wouldn’t have to have a tent, but I would love being out in the outdoors like that…and I think it would be a lot of fun and a bonding experience with the other couple, ya know?
Anyway, I’ve officially talked about everything I can think of to talk about, so I’m closing this blog. I just finished reading another book today-Magyk. It was almost 600 pages, so it took me over a week to read, but I enjoyed it. Not as much as my Lightning Thief book, which I read in 1 weekend, but now I get to read the rest of the Percy Jackson series (Lightning Thief was #1) so I’m excited and think those will fly by. I almost am bittersweet about reading them because I know there are only going to be 5 in the series and I borrowed #2 and #3 from my library, so before I know it that’ll be another series that I’m done with…sniffle.
Talk to you all later!!! Peace!
